The first approach forces the bottom face of the screw threads against the top face of the nut threads, causing friction between the nut and screw. The second method involves applying a compressive force to the screw itself. Using nylock nuts enables reuse without damaging the screw threads, but at the expense of destroying the nylon in the nut. It is made of stainless steel, carbon steel, and alloy steel so that it can withstand greater wear and tear and resist corrosion. It may also keep moisture out due to the nylon construction.
